Privacy, terms & listing policy

Effective 21 September 2026. Family Atlas SG is a Singapore-focused discovery guide. Unless Family Atlas expressly says otherwise for a particular service, bookings, payments and the delivery of activities take place directly with the organiser.

Operator and data protection contact

Family Atlas SG is an independent Singapore-based project. For privacy questions, access or correction requests, consent withdrawal, complaints, listing corrections or removal requests, use our contact form. A written data protection email address can also be revealed there.

What we collect

For organiser accounts we process your sign-in identity, organisation details and listing submissions. Organiser accounts use email sign-in without a password: we send a one-time code to the email address you provide and store an account identifier after verification. Some early organiser profiles were created using ChatGPT sign-in. Where needed, an existing legacy profile can be connected to a verified email address so that future access can use email sign-in; this migration requires verification of both the previous account access and the email address. For listing-access requests we collect a work email, website and verification note. Contact messages include your email, message, selected topic and any name you choose to provide. Tips and corrections include a source link and any optional note you provide. Uploaded images are checked and stripped of embedded location and other metadata before storage. Editorial listings use business information from public sources.

We also record privacy-minimised usage data such as page views, selected activity filters, broad area choices, result counts and clicks to organiser or source pages. If you type a keyword or phrase into the optional search field and submit the finder, we may store a shortened version of that search so we can understand what families are trying to find and where results are missing. Search text is limited in length and patterns that look like email addresses or phone numbers are automatically replaced before storage. We also record the approximate country supplied by our hosting network to understand where visits and searches originate. This is not a precise location, nationality or home address. We do not store IP addresses or infer Singapore neighbourhoods from this information. Referral tags in links may tell us that a visit came from a card, social channel, organiser or press link. They do not identify the individual visitor. We do not intentionally collect children's personal data or precise device location in the analytics event log.

Browser storage, cookies and analytics

Family Atlas SG does not currently use advertising cookies, retargeting pixels or cross-site tracking. A random identifier is kept in browser session storage solely to group actions during one browser session, including whether a search was followed by a click to an organiser. It does not contain your identity and is not used across websites. Search analytics are not tied to a parent account. For security and rate limiting, network information may be converted into a one-way cryptographic hash; raw IP addresses are not written to the analytics event log.

Email sign-in uses secure cookies to verify a sign-in attempt and keep you signed in. The attempt cookie lasts 10 minutes; session cookies can remain for up to seven days and are renewed when your session is refreshed. They are not used for advertising or analytics. Signing out clears these cookies.

Location

If you choose “Near me”, your browser asks for location permission. Your location is used on your device to select the nearest Family Atlas area; precise coordinates are not sent to or stored by Family Atlas. You can continue using the guide without granting permission.

Why we use it

We use the information to operate organiser accounts, review and publish listings, verify access requests, prevent misuse, respond to enquiries and improve discovery. Aggregated analytics help us understand demand, identify searches with few or no results, improve terminology and measure referrals to organisers. We do not sell personal data or use it for behavioural advertising.

Technology services and data transfers

We use service providers for hosting, authentication, email delivery, database and file storage. Email sign-in is processed by Supabase and our email delivery provider. These providers may process data for us in Singapore or other countries. Where personal data is transferred outside Singapore, we take reasonable steps to ensure a standard of protection comparable to the Singapore Personal Data Protection Act.

Retention

We retain personal data only for as long as it is reasonably needed to provide the service, review submissions, handle disputes, maintain security or meet legal obligations. Product analytics are retained only while they remain useful for operating and improving the service. When information is no longer needed, we delete it or remove identifying details where reasonably practicable.

Your choices

You may ask to access or correct personal data we hold about you, withdraw consent where applicable, request deletion of an account or submission, or make a complaint. Use the contact details above; we may verify your identity before acting. Withdrawing consent does not affect earlier lawful processing and may mean that we can no longer provide the relevant account or service.

Organisers and listings

For this policy, an “organiser” means any public authority, public institution, community or non-profit organisation, company, sole proprietor, venue, instructor, class provider or other person or entity that offers, operates, hosts or is responsible for an activity, event, facility, programme or service listed on Family Atlas SG.

Organisers remain responsible for their activities and services, including the accuracy and legality of information they provide, availability, prices, age or height guidance, booking and cancellation terms, delivery, staffing, safeguarding, safety arrangements, required licences or permits, insurance, refunds, complaints and compliance with applicable law. Editorial listings are based on publicly available sources and link back to the original source where available. Dates, prices, operating status and programme details can change, so users should check the organiser’s current information before relying on a listing.

Submitted text, images and other materials must be accurate, lawful and authorised for use. An organiser must have authority to act for the organisation or listing it claims. Family Atlas SG may format, correct, moderate, reject, suspend, unpublish or remove listings where reasonably necessary for accuracy, safety, legal compliance, product quality or platform operation. A listing does not imply endorsement, accreditation, agency, partnership or any guarantee by Family Atlas SG.

Organiser accounts, corrections and removal

Organisers can submit new listings and, where available, claim existing listings associated with their organisation. Subject to verification and moderation controls, organisers may update their information, correct inaccuracies, withdraw their own listings or ask us to correct or remove an editorial listing. We may need to verify identity or authority before making ownership-sensitive changes.

Creating an account, submitting or claiming a listing does not create a right to publication, continued publication, a particular ranking or placement, search visibility, traffic, enquiries, bookings or any minimum level of service. Family Atlas SG may change how listings are presented or organised as the platform develops, provided we continue to handle organiser information in accordance with this policy and applicable law.

Current organiser fees and future paid services

At present, standard Family Atlas SG organiser accounts, standard listing submissions and the standard claim process are free of charge. No listing fee or commission is payable to Family Atlas SG merely because a standard listing is published or claimed. Family Atlas SG does not commit to keeping every organiser feature free indefinitely.

In the future, Family Atlas SG may introduce paid plans, listing or verification fees, commissions, promotional features or other paid organiser services. If a new charge would apply to an existing organiser’s use of the platform, we will provide advance notice of the applicable price, scope and effective date. An organiser can decide whether to accept the paid service or instead discontinue the affected feature, withdraw relevant listings or close its organiser account before the charge applies. We will not apply a new charge retroactively merely because an organiser previously used a free standard service.

Bookings, third-party services and responsibility

Unless expressly stated otherwise, Family Atlas SG is a discovery and information service and is not the organiser, operator, instructor, ticket seller or contracting party for a listed activity. Bookings, payments, cancellations, refunds and disputes concerning an organiser’s activity are between the user and that organiser or its booking provider. External websites and booking systems have their own terms and privacy practices.

A listing, “verified” source status, editorial review or inclusion in a recommendation means only what Family Atlas SG expressly says it means. It is not a safety inspection, safeguarding approval, licensing check, insurance confirmation or guarantee that an activity is suitable for a particular child. We may check published sources, organiser identity or selected listing details without assuming responsibility for the organiser’s operation of the activity.

To the extent permitted by applicable law, Family Atlas SG is not responsible for an organiser’s acts or omissions, the performance, cancellation, quality or safety of an activity, or losses arising from inaccurate or outdated third-party information after reasonable sourcing and correction processes.

AI-assisted discovery and planning

Family Atlas SG may use AI-assisted features to search, summarise, compare or plan activities using catalogue information and other permitted sources. AI-generated suggestions can be incomplete, outdated or incorrect and do not replace the organiser’s current information or a parent or caregiver’s assessment of safety, suitability, accessibility, age restrictions or health requirements.

Unless a feature expressly states otherwise, an AI-assisted recommendation does not confirm live availability, inventory, admission, price or a completed booking. Where Family Atlas SG provides a link or hand-off to an organiser or booking provider, the user must review the final details and applicable third-party terms before proceeding. Family Atlas SG will not intentionally make a purchase, incur a charge or complete a booking on a user’s behalf without the user confirmation required by the relevant feature.

Safety and children

Family Atlas SG does not supervise activities or independently screen individual instructors. Parents and caregivers remain responsible for checking safeguarding arrangements, qualifications, accessibility, age or height restrictions, health requirements and suitability directly with the organiser. If a listing appears unsafe, materially inaccurate or misleading, users and organisers should report it through the contact or correction process so that it can be reviewed.

Singapore law, security and changes

This policy and the use of Family Atlas SG are governed by Singapore law, subject to any mandatory rights that applicable law gives a user or organiser. We use access controls, moderation, restricted uploads and encrypted transport. No online service can guarantee absolute security. We may update this policy as the platform, supporting services, commercial model or legal requirements change. Material changes affecting existing organiser fees or obligations will be communicated before they take effect where reasonably practicable.
